Okay, not about “us” just yet, as I’m the only one here. My name is Jeramie, and I’m a fantasy football fanatic. It was about 15 years ago a coworker was trying to get me to join a fantasy league at work. I was already a football fan, but fantasy football sounded a bit silly. I declined.
Then Eddie asked me again…and again. The draft was approaching he said, another employee dropped out and they were one player short. The league was counting on…me?!? Fine, I’ll join your fantasy football league, but I’m going to need your help because I have no idea what the Hell I’m doing. So it was set, I was off to Eddie’s house on draft night.
From the second I logged in and started looking over the draft board and plotting and planning who I was going to draft and where I was going to draft them, I knew I was going to be hopelessly addicted. It was a terrible first season, I drafted a quarterback way too early, waited way too long on a running back, drafted way too many players from my favorite team, and made horrible trades along the way. I made every rookie mistake possible. I think I finished the season with only 2 or 3 wins, but it didn’t matter. I took the bait and the hook was set.
That was about 15 years ago. I still play fantasy football with Eddie, but the standard non-PPR redraft leagues are long gone. Now it’s all about dynasty leagues. A whole new level of addiction. I went from 1 redraft league to a couple dozen dynasty leagues and I’m fighting the urge to sign up for more.
